π§ What is "View as Student"?
"View as Student" is a feature designed to give you, the brilliant educator, a peek behind the curtain. It temporarily transforms your majestic Teacher Dashboard into a student's account view.
Think of it as the ultimate teaching superpower: the ability to walk a mile in your student's CodeMonkey shoes.
π‘ Why Would I Use It?
Use Case | Why It Helps |
Troubleshooting | A student is stuck and says, "I can't ___." You can see exactly what their issue is, resolve it, or take a screenshot/screencast to send to your IT department or the CodeMonkey team. |
Instructional Support | You want to sit with the student and work together through a course and the challenges. You can pull up their account from your login and work on it together. Then, their progress and data is saved! |
π How to "View as Student"
Log in to your CodeMonkey Teacher Dashboard.
Navigate to your "Classroom" tab and select the specific class the student is rostered to, OR use the "Search for student" tool to quickly find them!
Be sure you are in the "Student" tab. Next to the student's name, look all the way to the right for the 3-dot (more options) icon.
Select the option that says "View as Student".
Poof! Your screen is now officially a student's view. Any progress you make on a course is now reflected on the student's account.
When finished, use the bottom blue banner button "Exit Student View" to pop right back into your teacher dashboard!
β οΈ The Important Safety Warning
DO NOT FORGET YOU ARE IN "VIEW AS STUDENT" MODE!
This is the number one cause of teacher dashboard chaos. While in student view, you can solve challenges, earn stars, and use helpful hints. However, this progress will be saved to that student's account!
